The architectural style you choose is not just about aesthetics โ€” it significantly influences your total build cost. Here is what Integra Builders has learned from hundreds of projects.

Why Style Affects Cost

Different styles require different materials, labor skills, and construction techniques. A simple modern design may cost less than an ornate traditional home of the same square footage.

Cost Factors by Style

Modern/Contemporary
Large windows, flat or low-slope roofs, and open floor plans. Premium glass and steel can increase costs, but simpler trim details offset this.

Traditional/Colonial
Detailed millwork, multiple roof lines, and brick or stone exteriors. More labor-intensive but timeless resale appeal.

Transitional
Blends modern and traditional elements. Often the most cost-effective as it balances complexity with clean lines.

European/Mediterranean
Stucco, tile roofs, and arched openings require specialized labor. Typically higher cost but distinctive presence.
